Visit Maricopa schools and be impressed
Letter
Monday, September 17, 2012
Dear Editor,
On September 14th, in honor of Constitution Week celebrating the 225th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, I visited four elementary schools in Maricopa with other members of the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution.
We distributed copies of the Constitution to all 5th graders and one of our members, Jeannette Andriano, dressed in period costume, gave a presentation about the events surrounding the signing. We also gave out bookmarks of the Preamble to 4th graders and the Pledge of Allegiance to 1st graders.
I’d like to say how impressed we were with the excellent behavior of the students and how nice our facilities are. We visited Pima Butte, Santa Cruz, Saddleback, and Legacy.
Other members of the community should take an opportunity to visit our schools. I think that they, too, will be impressed.
Sincerely
Lucy Akers, Ed.D.
