Maricopa, AZ -- On June 21, 2012, the Maricopa Historical Society held a successful fundraising event at Yogurt Jungle located at 21101 N. John Wayne Parkway. Sharilynn Hewitt, (owner of Yogurt Jungle), donated 20% (pre-tax) of the yogurt sales amount to the Maricopa Historical Society.

Historical Society President Brenda Hermanson had made a flier available over the Internet for several weeks before the fundraiser and also distributed them during the event, which lasted from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.

The ladies of the Maricopa Historical Society are dedicated to building a much needed museum that will be a home for items reflecting the history of Maricopa. They have been collecting important and meaningful memorabilia about Maricopa for many years. Historic items need to be displayed in order to be appreciated and understood.

“We need to keep history alive and tell the story of Maricopa," said Hermanson. “Thank you all very much for supporting this event and helping the Maricopa Historical Society raise funds toward a much needed museum for our great city. All of us are truly grateful for your support,” she added.

Yogurt Jungle owner Hewitt has hosted many fundraisers in Maricopa and in her other Yogurt Jungle store at 21202 S. Ellsworth Loop Road in Queen Creek.

“We have helped schools, the Cancer Society, even families who are experiencing some type of hardship. Just get in touch with me at www.YogurtJungle@cox.net,” said Hewitt.

Happy faces with big smiles were everywhere in the “Jungle.” The first full day of summer was celebrated with delicious, yummy yogurt, combined with the good feeling one gets from supporting a great event.
