We have big news this month for Maricopans seeking good health: Banner Health Center opened. In addition, we highlight several businesses that offer healthful options -- plus, a positive sign for the local economy with a business expansion. The thread that connects the businesses, in addition to healthful pursuits, is a commitment to excellence in customer service.
Banner Health Center now open
Banner has a corporate commitment to “patient focused, exceptional customer service.” At the recent Banner Healthcare Center open house, the company credo was evident. The several hundred local citizens who came to see the new facilities were able to meet the doctors and staff and tour the facility. Three pediatricians, one OB/GYN, one family medicine, and one internist are leading the new medical team. As the need is demonstrated, services will be expanded and specialists will be available on a rotating basis.
Banner has a new concierge service that demonstrates a real-world approach to meeting needs above and beyond the usual health service. The concierge staff will be available one hour before and one hour after regular service hours. Regular hours are: Monday through Thursday from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., and Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Also, phones will not close at lunchtime, so patients can make appointments when it is convenient for them.
Other innovative services Banner will be offering in Maricopa include a groundbreaking telemedical service that will allow patients to be seen in real time by a specialist at Maricopa’s facility via computer. Little touches can mean a lot, too, as the intake area includes a scale for patients in wheelchairs to be weighed in their chairs.
On opening day, Banner Health Center had already booked over 250 appointments for their doctors. Patients can make appointments for up to three months in advance and be placed on a call list for appointments beyond that timeframe.
The state of the art facility has 32,000 feet open with 36 exam rooms to start, plus radiology and laboratory services available on the premises. Another 8,000 sq. ft. are immediately ready for expansion, with an eventual 80,000 sq. ft. available at build-out to accommodate 40 doctors.
The décor is attractive and soothing. The new center is a prototype, a first of its kind for Banner, which will roll out another facility in Buckeye in the future.
For appointments, contact Banner Health Center at (520) 233-2500. The new facility is located at 17900 N. Porter Road at the corner of Alan Stephens Parkway.

And more coffee
Honeycutt Coffee is under construction at 44400 W. Honeycutt Road, Suite 109, with an expected opening date in August. Owner Eric Graham is planning a “homey, comfortable, modern feeling” with 1,300 square feet being developed. The menu, while not finalized yet, will have espresso and other coffees, teas, juices, sandwiches, and salads. Pastries will be available, provided by local bakers. Breakfast sandwiches and other unique treats will be part of the menu.
When looking at the location, owner and entrepreneur Eric Graham was so impressed with how friendly everyone was that he moved to Maricopa! His parents will be involved with the business, but he will also be hiring four employees.
With hours from early morning until evening, seven days a week, he will definitely need some help to provide the level of customer service he is planning. (Send resumes to jobs@honeycuttcoffee.com.)
Check back in a few months for a great new location. The telephone number is not yet available.
Expanding!
