Maricopa American Legion approves baseball team
Received article

Maricopa, AZ -- The Maricopa American Legion Post #133 is pleased to announce the approval of our American Legion Baseball team. Arizona’s Baseball Chairman Tom Kusek approved the post team at the Legion’s Executive Board meeting. The Legion Board then approved the team’s coordinator, JeffAnthony Garcia. Garcia is the current coordinator/president for Maricopa’s Babe Ruth League and a lifelong resident of the City of Maricopa. Garcia played baseball for the Maricopa High School Rams before enlisting and serving in the U.S. Navy. The post has identified a large need for teenage youth activities and this is an excellent opportunity to spearhead a program for teen boys between the ages of 13-19. The Maricopa American Legion Post #133 Baseball team will have the opportunity to represent the post within Pinal and Maricopa Counties.

American Legion Baseball was founded in 1925 and the program currently registers more than 5,400 teams in all 50 states (including Canada and Puerto Rico) and boasts alumni who currently play in the major leagues, such as Albert Pujos with the Los Angeles Angels.

The tem will begin forming and for all those interested in try-out dates, please contact Mr. Garcia at post133baseball@gmail.com or (602) 513-6621. The Communicator would like to encourage community support for the first-ever American Legion Baseball in Maricopa, Arizona. For further information and donations, please contact Commander Julia Gusse at juliargusse@msn.com.
