Grand Opening of Ak-Chin Indian Community's Vekol Market -- April 5

After the recent demolition of the old market and construction of the new Ak-Chin Indian Community Vekol Market, the location will reopen on Thursday, April 5 at 11:00 A.M. and the new space will include a fresh market grill, farmer’s market, and a café area complete with a TV and Wi-Fi access.
Attendees are invited to tour the facility, sample the food made fresh from the deli, and fill up their tank with the on-site gas pumps. There will also be door prizes and the opportunity to win a 42-inch flat screen TV.
The fresh market will include a deli with sandwiches made daily, a wide selection of groceries, a café area with a TV and Wi-Fi access, and a patio with outside seating, in addition to offering culturally indigenous foods. The market’s former space has been transformed into a space for a farmer’s market which will feature fruits, vegetables, and other offerings from vendors every other weekend.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community is nestled into the Santa Cruz Valley of Southern Arizona. The Community lies 58 miles south of Phoenix in the northwestern part of Pinal County. Ak-Chin is an O'odham word translated to mean "mouth of the wash" or "place where the wash loses itself in the sand or ground.” Ak-Chin has an enrollment of more than 850 tribal members.
