Maricopa, AZ -- Your mother’s doll with the china face and hands? Some vintage Ken and Barbies? The meat grinder your grandmother used to attach to her countertop? Depression glassware pieces? Most households have several interesting items like these.

Maricopans can help the Maricopa Historical Society with its upcoming display, “The 1900’s and Before: Those Were the Good Old Days.”

Check your cupboards, trunks, closets, bookcases, scrapbooks, photo albums, and junk drawers – you will be surprised at the treasures you may find, which could be loaned to the Maricopa Historical Society for a few months.

You might have items in the following categories: dolls and toys; kitchen tools and appliances; workmen’s tools; telephones or radios; typewriters or calculators; hats, purses or accessories; models and collections; dishes, pottery and glassware; interesting family photos; sewing aids or notions -- quilting, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, darning.

All items on loan will be documented, identified, and displayed in the Historical Society’s locked cabinets at the Maricopa Public Library. They will be returned to you at the end of the display period.

The display committee is currently compiling a list of available items to exhibit by the first of June. If you have things you would be willing to loan, please contact one of the following individuals by April 15:

MaryLou Smith (568-2285) Marylou.smith@mac.com
Gerry Ryan (568-3591) gerryryan94@hotmail.com
Dorothy Charles (568-7565) dacharles@Q.com

With your help, the Maricopa Historical Society will be able to present an interesting and community-centered look back at “the good old days” of the 1900’s and before.
