FOR Maricopa finds a new home
Received article

Maricopa, AZ -- After their fifth year in service to the Maricopa community, F.O.R. (Food, Opportunities, Resources) Maricopa is very excited to announce the next step in their growth plan. FOR has grown so rapidly over the last five years that they have outgrown their current location. They have been looking for a permanent location and simply have not found an ideal permanent place. They were so fortunate to have been offered the opportunity to work with Pinal County and lease their space as an interim location until they are able to find that final long term solution for FOR. They were thrilled when Pinal County Supervisor David Snider offered this option. He has been very supportive of FOR over the last five years and that support is greatly appreciated.

F.O.R. Maricopa serves the citizens of Maricopa by providing a food bank and resource center to families of the area who are in need. F.O.R started five years ago (in April), feeding about 30 families a week -- and now feed approximately 300 families a week. Each year they see approximately a 30% increase in the number of families assisted.

FOR plans to move the food bank to what was formerly known as the Pinal County Sheriff's station on N. John Wayne Parkway (44625 West Garvey Avenue). There will be some minor renovations to the interior to accommodate their needs and they hope to be moved in by May in time for the fifth anniversary. More information will to upcoming regarding an open house.

County Supervisor David Snider said, “F.O.R. Maricopa plays a critical role in the Maricopa area -- the foodstuffs that they collect and distribute make the difference between the very real specter of starvation and some food on the table for countless local families. Wendy Webb, her Board of Directors, and the many volunteers reached out to Pinal County for help in locating a new, temporary home that better accommodates their vital mission to serve the community. I and my fellow Supervisors and staff are pleased that we can help them."

Mayor Tony Smith also supports FOR’s mission and plans for moving. “I am very pleased to hear news about a new location for F.O.R. Maricopa. This new location gives greater accessibility, better security, and flexibility for growth. In addition, this move reinforces my belief that the community appreciates its mission, its leadership, and its volunteers.”
