Casa Grande, AZ – In early December, the Casa Grande Regional Medical Center (CGRMC) Foundation was awarded a $5,000 grant from Fry’s Food Stores through the Giving Hope A Hand campaign. This is the third year that Fry’s has supported CGRMC’s free screening mammogram program for uninsured and underinsured women. These funds will be available to women in need at Central Arizona Breast Center at Desert Reflections.
In addition, Arizona Public Service (APS) donated $1,500 to the program in November. APS also made an in-kind donation of a video about the Breast Center to be used in the promotion of the CGRMC Foundation’s current fundraiser, the Regional Riches Raffle, to benefit the Breast Center’s programs.
The Breast Center provides comprehensive breast services in a compassionate environment that coordinates, educates, and manages all breast related healthcare issues a woman might face. Services include digital screening mammograms, digital diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and breast biopsy including stereotactic, ultrasound guided, and needle localization.
Upon receiving these grants, Cheryl Dodd, Director of Imaging Services, said, “We are so thankful for the community partners who support our free mammogram program. Fry’s ongoing donations to this program have provided life saving screenings for many women. We are glad to have new partners like APS join this important fight against breast cancer for the women of our community. Together, we will continue to ensure that women are given the opportunity for screening that leads to early detection of breast cancer. As the number of uninsured women rises due to cuts in healthcare insurance, we know that the need for programs like this one is increasing. We sincerely thank both Fry’s and APS for caring.”
To meet the criteria for the free screening mammogram program, women must be 40 years or older and have no medical insurance. In addition, women with deductibles over $500 may be eligible for this service. For more information, please call (520) 381-6700.
