Enhancements still coming
Doris Fightmaster

Maybe you were one of the residents who thought that SR 347 through Maricopa would be tree-lined and look similar to medians along the roads in the El Dorado neighborhood. This is not the case, according to Development Services Director Brent Billingsley, who is looking to put decorative rock in the medians in the near future.

“Bushes get too high and there is a problem with that for sight distance. Also, as a rule, no trees would be planted in the median,” said ADOT Manager Danny Granillo.

Another enhancement project that is in the works for Maricopa with ADOT is the sidewalks for State Routes 347 and 238 that the City Council approved months ago. In talking to Linda Ritter of ADOT, the timeline varies for each project. A Phase I & II are in the works for the sidewalk project. Both have to go to a consultant who will be scoping the project and will come up with a final design. These designs go through an initial environmental determination and design, but Ms. Ritter is unsure exactly where the sidewalk projects are at this time.

With all of the Pinal County meetings concerning air quality with PM10 and blowing dust, the decorative rock would help in that aspect, even though it may not have been our first choice.
