Supervisor Snider named to Water Resources Development Commission
CASA GRANDE, AZ – Pinal County Supervisor David Snider has been appointed to serve on the recently formed Water Resources Development Commission.
The creation of the Water Resources Commission is a result of legislation passed earlier this year. The bill charges the new commission to examine the current and future water needs of Arizona and make recommendations to guide future legislative and policy deliberations. The Commission is comprised of 15 members who represent a cross section of the state.

Construction at Overfield & McCartney -- July 30th from 9:00 A.M. to Noon
CASA GRANDE – The Pinal County Public Works Department will be conducting road improvements at the Overfield Road and McCartney Road intersection on July 30, starting at 9:00 A.M.
Overfield Road will have one lane open for traffic for a three-hour span starting at 9:00 A.M and is anticipated to be fully open by Noon. Drivers will be directed through the single lane by flaggers who will alternate the traffic flow, allowing Overfield to stay open during the work.

The following information is from reports from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and the Maricopa Police Department. Information available is limited.
7/07/10 Hidden Valley
- An unknown type of fire was reported north of the intersection of N. Amarillo Valley & W. Clayton Rds.
Maricopa
- An erratic driver was reported after midnight in the area of Rancho El Dorado & Kennedy. After nearly striking the caller’s vehicle, the female driver stopped on the side of the road and cussed him out.
- A 15-year-old juvenile was admitted to the hospital following an incident at Maricopa Groves & Honeycutt today. The hospital asked to have the mother contacted and come to the hospital since the medical facility needed a responsible adult with the juvenile.
- A business on N. John Wayne Pkwy. reported a break-in overnight and the theft of a cash register.
- A possible structure fire was reported on W. Parkhill Dr.
- A caller in the Fry’s parking lot reported someone tried to break into her car while she was in the store. The bolts to the trunk were taken out.
- A domestic dispute between parents and a 21-year-old was reported on W. Lindgren Dr.
- An abandoned vehicle was reported in the area of Bowlin & Alterra. The vehicle was blocking the street.
- Vandalism to a home on W. Zion Rd. was reported after someone shot a window with what looked like a BB gun.
- Burglary to a home on N. Lousandra Dr. was reported. Miscellaneous items were taken.
- A hit-and-run accident was reported on N. John Wayne Pkwy. No injuries were reported.
- A vicious animal report was received from W. Coltin Way after a neighbor’s pit bull attempted to attack the caller’s wife.
- A medical call was received from W. Smith-Enke Rd. in front of the school. An adult female fell of her bike and was conscious but woozy. EMS responded.
- An unknown type of fire was reported on N. Castille Dr. The smoke alarm went off and the caller exited the house and saw and smelled smoke. No flames were visible.
- A wife on W. Hayden Dr. reported being threatened by her husband. The man tried to hit her with the car and was being verbally abusive.
- Suspicious activity was reported on W. Novak Ln. after someone threw a large rock at the back window of a home.
- A brushfire was reported in the wash in the area of W. Peters and Nall & N. Ralston Rds.
Stanfield
- Juan Gabriel Martinez, age 30, of Stanfield was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and probation violation.
- Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputies reported two undocumented aliens on I-8.
7/08/10 Maricopa
- Burglary to a vehicle on N. Ryans Tr. was reported. The vehicle was ransacked and the spare set of keys was taken from the vehicle.
- A theft of power in progress was reported on N. Riccardo Way.
- Criminal damage was reported on W. Bello Ln. after someone squirted mayo, mustard, and ketchup on a vehicle overnight. A trashcan was also taken.
- Theft of jewelry from a home on W. Wallner Dr. was reported. A number of contractors had been in the home.
- A medical call was received from W. Farrell Rd. for a 1-year-old unconscious and having a seizure.
- A parent on W. Bailey Dr. reported a runaway juvenile. The 16-year-old male had been gone for a week and refused to come home. The boy was angry because the mother took his cell phone away from him.
- Burglary to a home on W. Nina St. was reported. It was thought the suspect came in through the doggy door.
- Burglary to a vehicle on W. Knauss Dr. was reported. Items were taken.
- A parent on W. Long Way reported a 5-year-old missing.
- A medical call was received from W. Honeycutt Ave. for a 12-year-old female hit with a ball during a softball game.
- A juvenile problem was reported on N. Dietz Dr. when two juveniles were going around the neighborhood looking into cars.
- Gunshots were reported in the area of N. Donithan Way.
- A complaint of a barking dog after 9:00 P.M. was received from the area of High Desert & Celtic Ave. The caller said the dog had been barking for several hours.
- A complaint of kids making too much noise in the pool after 11:30 P.M. was received from W. Cartegna Ln.
7/09/10 Maricopa
- A medical call was received from Hwy. 347 & W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Hwy. that a woman was in labor and stuck at Amtrak.
- Criminal damage was reported on N. Gunsmoke Rd. While the caller was at the hospital with a child, someone destroyed her chicken coop. The caller was pretty sure who did it.
- A complaint of a barking dog after 5:30 A.M. was received from High Desert Tr. & Celtic. The caller said the barking dog “won’t stop.”
- A vehicle fire to brakes on a tractor-trailer was reported on Hwy. 238. Everyone was out of the vehicle. Maricopa Fire Department responded.
- A traffic hazard was reported on W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Hwy. & White and Parker when a tractor-trailer was blocking the entire roadway. The truck appeared to be stuck.
- Threatening was reported on N. Ibiza Ln. when a male caller was threatening to show the woman “what he is about.” The woman is pregnant with the man’s son.
- A found child was reported on W. Palo Cedro Rd. when a 10-year-old was banging on a neighbor’s door. The boy was very upset, said his dog was injured, and his parents were not home.
- An animal problem was reported at Fry’s parking lot when a dog was locked in a car. The windows were cracked.
- A welfare check was requested for a woman on W. Sagebrush Tr. The woman was a cancer patient on chemotherapy. She would answer the phone but only said “hello” and nothing else.
- A refrigerator was reported stolen from N. Santa Cruz Dr. The caller was out of town.
- Domestic violence was reported on W. Cary Dr. A boyfriend hit the girlfriend in the face.
- A hit-and-run accident was reported on W. McClelland Dr. No injuries were reported.
- Threatening was reported on W. Ranch Rd. The caller was a process server trying to serve papers.
- Theft of a bicycle was reported on W. Cheyenne Dr. The caller saw the juveniles leaving with the bike.
- A complaint of animal noise after 10:00 P.M. was received from W. Picasso St.
- Ak-Chin Police requested agency assistance to N. Jose St. for a domestic call.
- A medical call was received from W. Edward Ave. for a 10-year-old with bleeding from a cut on the head. It was unknown how the injury occurred. EMS responded.
- Possible gunshots were reported in the area of W. Ranch Rd.
- Ak-Chin requested an agency assist at the Casino for a male who matched the description of an earlier armed robbery suspect in Phoenix. The money being used also matched the description.
Hidden Valley
- Suspicious activity was reported in the 2100 block of N. Green Rd. when someone dumped three garbage bags in front of a workshop. The caller said the bags smelled really bad.
Stanfield
- An owner of rental property in the 38000 block of W. Apache Dr. reported a burglary to the property. The caller said every time they return to the property they find food and other items in the home.
7/10/10 Maricopa
- A runaway juvenile report was received from W. Blazen Tr. The girl did not return from a party and did not answer her phone.
- A parent on W. Rhea Rd. reported a runaway juvenile.
- A medical call was received from W. Venture Rd. for a male with a gash on his nose and on the back of his head. Dispatch could not determine a cause for the injuries because the caller’s story kept changing.
- A female with a head injury on N. Smith Dr. called for assistance.

- Fabian Noel Melendez, age 18, of Stanfield was arrested on charges of criminal damage, burglary, theft, and trafficking in stolen property.
- Freddie Torrez, age 23, of Stanfield was arrested on charges of trafficking in stolen property, burglary, and theft/control of stolen property.
- Burglary to a home in the 36000 block of W. Lane Dr. was reported. The home was broken into overnight and a window was broken. Items were taken.
- A vehicle accident was reported at W. Hwy. 84 & N. Stanfield Rd. One of the parties did not speak English and did not have identification. Southwest Ambulance was advised to respond.
- A semi hit a power pole at N. Stanfield & W. Barnes Rds. There were no injuries. A technician was on scene.

- Esmeralda A. Ascencio Galvez, age 22, of Maricopa was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
- Celia Asencio, age 20, of Maricopa was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and assault.
- A complaint of a dog barking after 9:30 A.M. was received from W. Maricopa Ave.

A second call was received one minute later from the owner of the property with the pool. The caller stated the property was vacant and wanted the trespassers arrested and charged.

- Burglary to a vacant home was reported in the 8600 block of N. Warren Rd. A dishwasher may have been taken.

- A utility problem was reported when a power line was sparking in a tree in the 50000 block of W. Mockingbird Ln. APS was advised. APS said it would be a call for ED3 and advised that ED3 had a tech en route.
- A pickup truck was broken down in the area of N. John Wayne Pkwy. & W. Peters and Nall Rd. The hazards lights were on and the vehicle was off to the side of the road. DPS advised it wasn’t their area. Ak-Chin Police Department responded.
- A report was received that someone stole about 300 feet of copper telephone cable from W. Hwy. 84.
7/17/10 Maricopa
- Steve Emeren Patten, age 43, of Maricopa was arrested on two charges of fighting/disruptive behavior and a charge of criminal damage.
- Pinal County Deputies reported a traffic offense in the area of N. Warren Rd. & Val Vista when a vehicle was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour.
- Pinal County Deputies made a traffric stop in the area of N. John Wayne Pkwy. & W. Smoketree Ln. Six people were taken into custody. Border Patrol responded.
7/19/10 Maricopa
- Isaiah Lee Davis, age 18, of Maricopa was arrested on a summons for marijuana possession/use.

7/21/10 Hidden Valley
- A bonfire in the 51000 block of W. Esch Tr. caught a tree and shrubs on fire. A second caller reported seeing the fire from two blocks away. Thunderbird Fire responded.

- An unknown type of fire was reported in about the 54000 block of W. Rocky Dr. The caller said it was lightning-caused fire.
- A complaint of loud noise after 4:30 A.M. was received from W. Blazen Tr. The caller thought the noise was coming from the pool area.
- A report of vandalism was received from N. Belmont Ave. after a yard was damaged overnight. Someone stole a light and broke a porch light.
- An animal problem was reported on N. Hogenes Blvd. after a dog not on a leash tried to attack a woman.
- A welfare check was requested for a home on W. Rosalia Dr. The caller said the neighbor’s keys were in the door and the door was open. No one was home and the vehicle was outside. The caller stated it had been like this since last night.
